Hello, My name is is Cassandra Long. This is my first year as a counselor at Jeter Primary School in Opelika, Alabama. This is my tenth year with the Opelika City Schools System. Previously, I have taught first grade for the past nine years at Southview Primary School, here in Opelika. I am both excited and delighted about starting this new chapter in my life. I am looking forward to working with all of the wonderful students, parents, teachers,community leaders, and adminisration this year.
I earned a B.S. in Elementary Education, M.S. in Elementary Education, and an Ed.Specialist in Elementary Education from Troy University. Upon completing these programs, I felt a strong desire and compassion to help children in another way. I went back to school to pursue a second Masters degree program in School Counseling at Troy University.
I enjoy working with children because I have a love for all of them. They inspire me as I inspire them. I think it is important to build a strong foundation for children at an early age. I value the time that I have to enrich children lives and help them be successful emotionally, socially, and academically. I believe it is vital to students' success, that we teach them how to get along well with others, make good choices, and solve problems. Children should be able to express their feelings and needs in a safe, productive,caring, and respectful environment . This will help make their learning effective and comfortable. As a team,we can work together as parents, teachers,counselors, and community support to help make each child's life successful.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, shopping, going to the movies, reading, decorating , collecting bears, and traveling. I look forward to meeting all of you and hearing about the great things you like to do!
